Slagel Farms

Slagel Farms

Slagel Family Farm is a 800 acre fifth-generation family farm in central Illinois known for its humane, small-scale approach to raising livestock. The Slagel family raises cattle, pigs, lamb, goats, and poultry without hormones or growth additives, relying on traditional methods and much of their own home-grown feed. Their hands-on stewardship produces consistently high-quality meat prized by chefs throughout the Midwest. By combining heritage farming values with modern transparency, Slagel Family Farm has become one of the region's most trusted farm-to-table partners. Farm Bar typically sources beef, chicken and farm eggs from Slagel Farms.

Nichols Farms

Nichols Farms & Orchards

Nichols Farm & Orchard is a family-owned, 300-acre sustainable produce farm in Marengo, Illinois, founded in 1978 by Lloyd and Doreen Nichols. Over more than four decades the farm has blossomed into a deeply diversified operation: they now grow hundreds of varieties of fruits and vegetables — over 200 kinds of apples alone — and the total output amounts to sometimes more than 1,000 different produce items across the seasons. Farm Bar sources a variety of seasonal fruits and vegetables from Nichols Farms

The Cider Farm

The Cider Farm

The Cider Farm is a 166-acre farm in Mineral Point, WI growing certified organic, true cider apples to make the finest ciders and apple brandy. Owners, John Biondi and Deirdre Birmingham, started the orchard by taking a grafting class in 2003 to make the English and French cider apple trees necessary for the finest quality ciders. These are the "wine grapes of apples" but were not available commercially in the US. The apples make the difference. All of their nine ciders and two apple brandies have won national and international awards. They are neighbors to Brown Dog Farm and are proud to make ciders for Farm Bar restaurants, including JohnnyMac.
